A historic movie theater, a pizza shop, a chameleon, baking, sailing, and more......................................
Little views from a college graduate's life before gradation and beyond..............................................
I've been thinking...I might have more time to blog again in the summer. To those of you reading this, would you like to just keep reading about my random thoughts, looking at my pictures, or would a blog about books I read (I'll have time to READ!) or maybe movies I see (summer in Delaware fo r me means plenty on Strand time!)?
Your thoughts please. In the meantime...here are some photos I took at Phipps Conservatory, on a trip I went on with Horticulture club to Pittsburgh, PA.
I'm sitting here, trying to motivate myself to write lessons on weather for my class's science unit, and I just can't help but be distracted by life. My roommate Megan and I are trying to find an apartment and jobs in Delaware for after graduation. Thinking about after graduation has gotten me excited for the future and ready for the rest of life! It's so hard to concentrate on the little, seemingly mundane things in the now when the fresh and new comes closer and closer.
Well, perhaps I should try to come down from the clouds and get ready to teach about them instead.
Until the next time I have a few moments to spare from student teaching and glorious life...
Here are two pictures, taken from my friend Stephanie's blog. They are pictures from when I visited her in Chicago for New Years this past December/January. Take That Willis! When Emily came to visit me over New Years, she was shocked and appalled to learn that the Sears Tower had been renamed...
Thanks Stephanie! :) I'll post more pics as I get them. Visit Stephanie's blog: s h o t s
Student teaching keeps you so BUSY! But I'm more than half way through the semester!
I'll do my best to post more often, but it's hard to find the time.
I found another blog while surfing around friends' facebook pages earlier today, and it had me grinning after but a few posts. It is an interesting twist on photos of modern architecture and interior design. You know what photos I'm talking about. The ones you see in magazines and websites, that you look at and think "That's interesting but I don't think I could really live in a house that looks like that. It just looks like a cold, modern art museum display."
Today I got a call at 7:00 in the morning. It was one of my cooperating teachers for student teaching calling to tell me that Delaware City schools were closed, so the Early Childhood Center (the school I am currently teaching at), would be closed as well. Those two glorious words popped into my head, the ones you always hope for as a kid, the ones that mean a whole day free, romps in the snow, sledding down the hill, tall, white snow forts, prints of angles, wet, glorious snowball fights, the birth of a snowman in the yard, and warm hot chocolate with sweet marshmallows.
SNOW DAY!!! And to a college girl, this also meant some time to catch up on some extra seminar work that had been building up.
Then, at 10:00 tonight, I got another call. The Delaware City schools were calling off once again, and yet again those two words hung in the air:
SnoW dAy...
A blessed break in the middle of a crazy week...an unexpected extra weekend in some ways. Still, the week will be more crazy and rushed as the week starts up once again. Snow days are all well and good, and can be quite restful, but unfortunately, on the teacher's end, they really start to back up plans. Ah well, one of the virtues of the teacher is to always be flexible.
Just this past Friday and Saturday we got 6-8 inches of snow, then this new snow storm blew in and gave us the snow days. The first two pictures in this post are from Friday during the first snow. The rest are from Saturday morning when Kaleigh, Megan, and I walked into town for a bite to eat. Delaware in the wintertime can be really very beautiful...
Instead, I have a post for you about the T-Shirt company I found via facebook ad: Snorg Tees Check these T-shirts out, some of them are quite hilarious. Here are a few of my favorites.
Just last weekend I drove home to take a friend out for her 21st birthday. As I was driving, I was struck by the beauty of the streetlights as they shown through the night's foggy air. They were like beams of hope in the night, shining down on the cars as they whizzed by, each to their own destination. Whether you were off to a crazy college party, to your home for a late evening meal, to the movie theater with friends, to the early night bar scene, or to Steak n' Shake for a banana and strawberry side by side, those streetlights were there for you and for all. Their bright beams spread their light through the fog, spreading out their glow like skirts of protection, like guardians in the gloom. Thank you streetlight, beacon in the dark, friend to the foggy-night driver.
